
My Story
Prof. La'Meshia Whittington is the Executive Director and Co-Founder of The Green Majority. She is a nationally recognized leader in environmental justice, civic engagement, Arts education, Arts performance, bipartisan thought-leadership and grassroots power building. With over 20 years of experience across government, academia, nonprofit leadership, donor organizing and frontline organizing, Prof. Whittington brings visionary strategy and deep community-rootedness to the work of political transformation.
She also serves as the President of Democracy Green, the C3 sister organization to The Green Majority, where she oversees federally funded environmental health campaigns, including lead pipe replacement and wetland restoration efforts. A seasoned funder advisor, policy strategist, and movement builder, La’Meshia has led coalitions across the South to demand clean water, advance racial equity, and mobilize the vote in regions long ignored by mainstream politics.
She is a sought-after speaker, educator, and strategist whose leadership is grounded in ancestral legacy, academic rigor, and radical care. Through The Green Majority, she continues to cultivate a powerful movement to fight for survival—and win.
